The conceptual document on the BRICS Sustainable Industrial Cooperation Mechanism has been developed and presented by the People’s Republic of China to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This document, while referencing the provisions of the 15th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, emphasizes the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda and the necessity of joint cooperation among members in the field of sustainable development.
Establishing a secretariat and appointing one of the members as a liaison to ensure the functionality and efficiency of the Sustainable Industrial Cooperation Mechanism is among the key actions highlighted in this document.
In the initial stages, the mechanism will be implemented through one-day conferences to operationalize sustainable industrial adaptability among members. Topics such as information exchange, enhancing technological cooperation, financial support, and deepening collaboration among industrial zones, parks, and private companies will be on the agenda of these conferences.
The Center for Transformation and Progress Cooperation, in response to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ request, conducted multiple expert reviews of this document and provided its opinions and recommendations to the Ministry for leveraging this opportunity.
