The approved NDB projects can be categorized into three main groups:
- Currency used for financing
- Project-requesting countries
- Development sectors
Accompanying charts illustrate the distribution of projects across these three dimensions, providing
an overview of the currency, geographic, and sectoral composition of approved projects.
Projects Outside Member Countries
Among the approved projects, only one has been financed outside the NDB member countries.
This project is located in Lesotho and, with the guarantee of the South African government,
was financed at approximately USD 221 million using the Rand currency.
Significance of Cross-Border Projects
Implementing projects outside member countries, when the interests of at least one member are met and
a valid guarantee exists, can help expand the bank’s role in regional and cross-regional development.
