BRICS Participation Initiative in the New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR)
During the 9th BRICS Summit in September 2017, the President of China proposed leveraging the historical opportunities of the New Industrial Revolution, exploring new cooperation models, and strengthening interactions for sustainable development within the BRICS framework.
At the 10th BRICS Summit in 2018, the significant initiative called BRICS Participation in the New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR) was introduced by China. This initiative reinforces the BRICS approach of win–win cooperation, inclusivity, and joint development. Its goal is to enhance interactions among member countries in the fields of digitalization, industrialization, innovation, inclusivity, and increased investment.
Areas of Cooperation under the PartNIR Initiative
- Strengthening policy coordination in the New Industrial Revolution
- Increasing collaboration in advanced technologies and skills
- Promoting exchanges and cooperation in digitalization
- Expanding joint projects and industrial capacity building
- Encouraging cooperation in inclusive growth projects
- Deepening collaboration among stakeholders and enhancing complementary resources
It is noteworthy that six key cooperative projects have been established so far under this initiative.
