India Joins BRICS Industrial Capability Center to Support Small and Medium Enterprises

With the aim of enhancing industrial competitiveness and empowering manufacturing companies, India has joined the BRICS Industrial Capability Center (BCIC) to provide integrated support services to manufacturing firms and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across BRICS member countries.

The BRICS Industrial Capability Center, established in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), acts as a network for manufacturing companies in BRICS countries. Its objectives include technology transfer among industries, international expansion, strengthening human capital skills, and developing advanced technologies such as Industry 4.0 and industrial digitalization.

BCIC also serves as an infrastructure for public-private collaboration, helping SMEs gain access to global markets.

Additionally, a memorandum of understanding between India’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and UNIDO has been signed to provide the necessary resources for projects and strengthen regional cooperation.

The National Productivity Council (NPC) of India is responsible for implementing various projects to enhance productivity, strengthen industrial capacities, and promote modern manufacturing practices in India and other BRICS member countries.

These initiatives not only support industrial capability in India but also provide SMEs in BRICS countries with opportunities to leverage advanced technologies, increase productivity, and enhance competitiveness in the global market.
