Iran has actively contributed to the work of the BRICS Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Steering Committee by proposing strategic initiatives and strengthening cooperation mechanisms among member states. These efforts reflect Iran’s growing role in shaping the future direction of scientific and technological collaboration within the BRICS framework.
At the latest meeting of the BRICS Science, Technology, and Innovation Steering Committee in 2024, Iran presented five strategic proposals aimed at reviving inactive working groups and establishing new ones. These proposals were formally submitted by the BRICS Chair and subsequently circulated among all member countries for review, discussion, and potential adoption.
The proposed initiatives focused on enhancing coordination, addressing emerging scientific and technological priorities, and strengthening the operational effectiveness of BRICS working groups in line with shared development goals.
Another major achievement highlighted during the Steering Committee meeting was Iran’s commitment to host three key BRICS working group meetings in 2025. These meetings are expected to contribute significantly to advancing cooperation, knowledge exchange, and joint project development among BRICS members.
By hosting these high-level meetings, Iran aims to strengthen its engagement within the BRICS STI framework and facilitate deeper collaboration among member countries in priority scientific and technological domains.
