The BRICS Oceanography and Polar Science Working Group has held six meetings so far in Brazil (2017), Russia (2019 and 2024), India (2020), China (2021), and South Africa (2023). Russia and Brazil serve as the coordinating countries for this working group.

Activities and Missions of the Working Group

Participation in this working group involves expeditions to marine and oceanic ecosystems. Member countries can also access the results of joint research in the field of marine and maritime studies. The necessary research equipment and infrastructure are mostly deployed on specialized vessels of member countries, especially Russia.
