On Saturday, IRNA reported from the International World Atom Week, that the BRICS Nuclear Energy Platform was established approximately one year ago to strengthen cooperation among companies in BRICS member states and to promote nuclear energy as an environmentally friendly energy source.

The annual BRICS Nuclear Energy Conference was held alongside the World Atom Week events at the VDNKh exhibition center in Moscow.

Hosein Derakhshandeh, Deputy of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and CEO of the National Atomic Energy Development Company, presented Iran’s positions and proposals during the session.

Representatives from BRICS and BRICS-Plus member countries—including Russia, Brazil, Vietnam, Egypt, China, South Africa, UAE, Ethiopia, Turkey, and the ASEAN Energy Center—also attended the event.

The conference introduced the 2026 program of the BRICS Nuclear Platform and approved the platform’s first strategic document.

The strategic document defines key operational areas such as human resource development, fundraising for nuclear projects, supply chain resilience, promotion of reactor construction and nuclear fuel cycle technologies, public acceptance of nuclear energy, and other priorities, outlining the platform’s organizational development paths.
