Review of Payments and Projects of the BRICS New Development Bank
The BRICS New Development Bank follows a conservative approach in disbursing funds for approved projects.
By the end of 2021, the bank had approved a total of 82 projects worth $30.7 billion, yet only $14.6 billion
had been disbursed. Excluding emergency COVID-19 loans, this figure decreases to $6.4 billion.
Interest rates on the bank’s loans are slightly higher than those of other development institutions.
However, due to lower or absent advisory costs, these loans are considered economically competitive.
