BRICS Industrial Cooperation Advances Through Xiamen Innovation Center
According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the BRICS Innovation Center for the New Industrial Revolution in Xiamen, established in 2020, has achieved remarkable progress over the past five years in policy coordination, human resource training, and joint project development. It has become the first practical cooperation project under the BRICS framework for the New Industrial Revolution.
Official evaluations highlight that the center, adhering to the BRICS spirit of openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation, has delivered key accomplishments, including the continuous organization of annual forums, the establishment of a BRICS customs exhibition center, the creation of the Digital Economy Research Center, and the advancement of joint technological development initiatives.
Intensifying global competition in science and technology and profound shifts in the industrial landscape have underscored the need for closer collaboration among BRICS members and other developing countries. China emphasizes that these countries should leverage their market, resource, and industrial capacities to strengthen policy coordination, technological cooperation, and the development of shared innovation ecosystems.
These recommendations also stress alignment with technological advancements, enhancing regulatory coordination, and developing integrated digital infrastructures. China further believes that BRICS members should take joint actions to improve energy and resource efficiency, promote green and sustainable industrial development, and ensure the security and stability of global supply chains.
