Advancing BRICS Cooperation in Emerging Technologies and the New Industrial Revolution
As part of BRICS’ ongoing efforts to advance the new industrial revolution, China has announced increased support for companies and industries operating in the field of emerging technologies. The objective is to develop scalable systems across BRICS member states and reduce reliance on costly or restricted global technologies.
In the digital domain, significant opportunities for joint transformation of BRICS economies have been highlighted. In recent years, several Chinese companies have established joint artificial intelligence laboratories in BRICS member countries and have actively participated in the development of smart factories, localized algorithms, and industry-oriented AI models.
China has further stated that cooperation in artificial intelligence, 6G technology, and the development of integrated digital networks and infrastructure among BRICS members will continue at an accelerated pace.
Meanwhile, BRICS is now viewed as more than merely an “interactive infrastructure” and has evolved into a “community of leading experts” playing a decisive role in shaping the future industrial landscape. Member countries are increasingly focusing on opportunities in biotechnology, industrial digitalization, intelligent manufacturing, and the development of resilient supply chains.
It is also worth noting that amid growing geopolitical uncertainties and global supply chain disruptions, several BRICS members have emphasized that accelerating the green and digital transition is essential for achieving sustainable industrial growth.
Overall, BRICS is rapidly consolidating its position as an influential emerging bloc in the future of advanced technologies—one in which China plays a leading role through the development of shared artificial intelligence infrastructure, clean energy systems, and integrated digital platforms.
