BRICS Civil Council and Citizen Engagement with Governments
The BRICS Civil Council was established in September 2024 following its endorsement in the declaration of the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia. The council’s main mission is to connect citizens of BRICS countries with their governments and promote civic engagement.
The council is also tasked with advancing collaboration among BRICS member states in a comprehensive and participatory manner, prioritizing the needs of the people.
Create a platform for constructive dialogue and interactions among various groups, including civil society organizations (CSOs), government bodies, private sector (industry and commerce), and the public, including academia.
Promote social and cultural exchange among citizens of BRICS member countries
Increase transparency in civil mechanisms of BRICS and ensure equal voice for all civil society organizations in member countries
Establish a suitable platform for effective international exchange and collaboration between national civil society organizations of member countries
