Cybersecurity Event for BRICS Central Banks Held at UAE Central Bank

With the aim of strengthening global cybersecurity and safeguarding financial stability, the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates hosted a cybersecurity event and the second BRICS central banks cybersecurity drill. This two-day event, held on November 3-4, 2025, in collaboration with Brazil at the UAE Financial Innovation Center in Dubai, brought together cybersecurity experts from BRICS central banks to exchange insights and examine emerging threats from advanced technologies and strategies to mitigate them.

A major component of the event was the operational cybersecurity drill, in which participants faced simulated cyberattacks. This exercise allowed BRICS central banks to assess their operational readiness, strengths and weaknesses, and identify areas for improving cybersecurity defenses in real-world scenarios.

During the drill, participants shared experiences and best practices for handling complex cyberattacks, an initiative that can ultimately enhance the resilience of member countries’ financial infrastructure and strengthen coordinated cybersecurity efforts within the BRICS framework.

The Deputy Governor for Monetary Policy at the UAE Central Bank emphasized the need for BRICS countries to align their approaches to cybersecurity, noting that the rapid advancement of technology and increasing cyber threats require a collective and proactive response. This initiative demonstrates the UAE Central Bank’s commitment to active risk management and international cooperation to counter rising threats to the financial sector.

The event represents a significant step by BRICS towards creating a harmonized cybersecurity framework and enhancing the defensive cohesion of member countries’ financial infrastructures.
