BRICS Aviation Working Group Recommendations for Enhancing Connectivity and Developing the Aviation Industry

The aviation industry is a key driver of economic development, playing a significant role in boosting tourism, facilitating trade, and strengthening countries’ integration into global commerce. Strengthening air connectivity is therefore essential for sustainable economic growth among BRICS member states.

Enhancing Air Connectivity and Multilateral Agreements

The BRICS Aviation Working Group recommends removing existing barriers, increasing the volume of air exchanges, and improving regulatory instruments to enhance air connectivity. Cooperation based solely on bilateral agreements is considered insufficient, and BRICS countries are encouraged to move toward multilateral aviation agreements to fully utilize existing capacities.

Workforce Skills Development and Service Quality Improvement

Targeted programs for evaluating aviation agreements and monitoring their implementation are of critical importance. In parallel, strengthening cooperation among educational and training institutions to enhance aviation-related skills can help align the quality of air transport services in BRICS countries with international standards.

Proposed Actions by the Aviation Working Group

  • Removing barriers in air transport exchanges among BRICS countries
  • Developing multilateral aviation agreements to optimize existing capacities
  • Evaluating and monitoring the implementation of aviation agreements
  • Strengthening cooperation among training centers to enhance workforce skills
