Brazil–China Joint Artificial Intelligence Laboratory Launched

To leverage artificial intelligence and advanced technologies for enhancing agriculture in semi-arid regions, Brazil and China have initiated the establishment of a specialized joint laboratory focused on AI and small-scale agricultural machinery. The lab will be hosted by the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation at the National Institute of Semi-Arid Regions (INSA), covering areas such as environmental monitoring, climate and soil data analysis, and the development of digital solutions for rainfed and water-scarce agriculture.

In this collaboration, Brazil will contribute its practical experience in tropical agriculture, soil management, and diverse ecosystems, while China will provide advanced digital technologies, innovative equipment production capabilities, and rapid development of AI-based smart solutions, resulting in a synergy for intelligent agriculture.

Introduced on the sidelines of a Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) meeting, this project symbolizes technology transfer, local adaptation of innovation, and the strengthening of food security and sustainable development in emerging economies. The joint Brazil–China laboratory aims to integrate advanced technology with real agricultural needs in challenging climates.
