POINTCLOUD Project: Innovation in Geospatial Information Technology
Project Overview
The POINTCLOUD project in the field of geospatial information technology was carried out in collaboration with scientists from Russia, India, and China.
The main goal of the project was to develop new algorithms for hybrid processing of large-scale data obtained from laser scanners.
Implementation and Results
During the three-year implementation of the project, software prototypes for hybrid processing, storage, and real-time visualization of photogrammetric and laser scanner data were designed, developed, and deployed based on decoding algorithms.
The software was also tested under field and laboratory conditions to generate 3D models from data collected at historical, cultural, and road infrastructure sites.
Based on the results, recommendations for commercializing the technology were provided.
